Taylor Street Update When we discovered that the construction of our new Central branch will cost roughly $400 per sf., it became apparent that building a brand new space for these departments would not be a cost effective use of your tax dollars. However, we found our solution within a vacant garage and warehouse space at 1219 Taylor Street in Elyria. With this space, we are able to keep providing the public with the same great service without compromising our plans for the new Central branch. You may not be aware of how much goes on behind the scenes in the Elyria Public Library System. The following departments were previously house in small offices at West River and in Central’s basement. Here at Taylor St., they have ample space to continue providing you with high quality services and resources. Tech Services is in charge of ordering, receiving, cataloging, and processing tens of thousands of library materials every year. Marketing and Communications produces all of our print and digital advertising materials for our 2,000+ programs offered at the library. System Services orders, receives, and delivers to our five branches all the supplies needed to keep the library going, from copy paper to cleaning products. Fleet Services ships and receives over a quarter million interlibrary loan items annually using the library cargo van. Outreach Services makes regular visits to daycares, local schools, nursing homes, and community festivals with educational and entertaining programs, and also delivers materials to our homebound patrons. Bookmobile staff brings the library to those who cannot come to us, including schools, nursing homes, and district neighborhoods. The Friends work year-round on getting donations sorted and packed for our annual book sale. Our Bookmobile makes about 33 total weekly stops in LaGrange and Elyria neighborhoods.
