We’ve been working to bring you the programs and events you enjoy and to come up with some new offerings. Winter in Ohio can be a bit dreary and gray, what better way to beat the blahs than meeting friends and trying something new at the library! Join in on one of our programs, stop by to pick up books and movies, or come stay a while to use our fast wi-fi and comfy seats. No matter the purpose of your visit, you’ll always find warm welcomes from our Elyria library team! I am thrilled to announce the news that Mary Harris will be the new Branch Manager for the South Branch library! Mary is an experienced manager you might recognize from her leadership of the adult services team at West River. Mary is eager to continue to grow and evolve our vibrant South Branch! South Branch is involved in many great partnerships and collaborations, and it has been a delight to see so many people enjoying the space, our helpful staff, the computer center, books of course, and the people coming to use and help stock the community food pantry and refrigerator we call the “Freedge” which is a partnership with Horizon Centers. Coming soon, South Branch is bringing back the popular Super Slime Time program for youth. The community garden partnership with Lorain County Community Action Agency and Our F.A.M.I.L.Y will be ramping up when the weather warms up in the spring! We are also excited about a new series of programs at Keystone featuring butterflies! Keystone Library will host a small butterfly hatchery that will be a learning experience and a joy for visitors as we watch the caterpillars emerge and transform into butterflies that will be released. And West River Branch is hosting an array of health and wellness educational sessions and activities such a presentation about ADHD by a board certified neurologist from University Hospitals. West River is also holding wellness related physical activity sessions such as yoga, tai chi and bellydance. Central Library is bringing back the popular Life Size Candyland game this spring for families to enjoy. And for adults we are starting up a new monthly film discussion group, watch the film first and come to the Film Fanatics meeting to chat about it! We look forward to seeing you at the library! Warmly, Jen Starkey CONNECT WITH US!
